2007 Mission Trip to Clewiston, Fla.
On November 11, 2007, a group of 20 persons
from Manassas St. Thomas UMC
arrived in Clewiston, FL for an intense week of
major home repair. We were
met by members of the Community Rebuilding
Ecumenical Workforce or CREW who
are coordinating disaster relief in the local
area. They let us know that
they had high hopes as to what we would
accomplish while we were there and
that their hopes were based on our past
performance.
We divided into three teams. One team worked on
replacing a roof with major
structural damage and chain link fence destroyed
by the storm. Another team
worked on a double wide mobile home with major
water and structural damage.
The third team was a support team which provided
most of our meals, water,
Gatorade, and other jobsite necessities.
